Tara Gleeson, DNP, APN
Tara Gleeson, DNP, APN, is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner specializing in neurodevelopmental pediatrics. She holds a doctorate of nursing practice from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark and a master’s in child health from the State University of New York Stony Brook. For more than 20 years, Dr. Gleeson has worked with children at Morristown Medical Center who have developmental and behavioral concerns and counseled their families. She treats children in the Craniofacial and Child Development centers and in the High-Risk Infant Follow Program in Sam’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. An expert on Autism Spectrum Disorder, she coordinates services for children with autism at Goryeb Children’s Hospital and is the manager of the dedicated Autism Center at the hospital’s 435 South Street Ambulatory Care Facility. A clinical instructor for Rutgers University and a former faculty member of UMDNJ School of Nursing, Dr. Gleeson is also involved in research, serving as past vice-chair and current member of the Atlantic Health Institutional Research Board.
Kathryn Laurie, MD
Kathryn Laurie, MD is an attending physician in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology division at Goryeb Children’s Hospital and is an assistant professor of Pediatrics at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. She completed her pediatric residency at NYP-Weill Cornell in New York City, after which she went on to fellowship training in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Stem Cell Transplant at Lurie Children’s Hospital/Northwestern in Chicago. After completing her fellowship in 2019, she joined the faculty at Goryeb Children’s Hospital where she currently serves as Children’s Oncology Group (COG) Principle Investigator and is involved in opening Phase II/III COG clinical trials at Goryeb in order to provide patients with access to the most cutting edge treatments for pediatric cancers.
Dr. Laurie’s clinical interests in pediatric hematology and oncology include solid tumors, and she is involved in ongoing projects with the Soft Tissue Sarcoma Committee through COG. Additionally, one of her long-term areas of research interest is quality improvement. She has been involved in different endeavors aimed at assessing systems and improving communication and efficiency; these have included topics such as emergency department care of pediatric sickle cell anemia patients and the use of the electronic medical record to expedite the triage of oncology patients from home to hospital. She is also a member of the Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcomes (IPSO) collaborative at Goryeb Children’s Hospital.
Lindsey McPhillips, DO
Lindsey McPhillips, DO, is a board-certified pediatric cardiologist who joined Atlantic Health System in the fall of 2021. She graduated from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at Westchester Medical Center. Following her residency, Dr. McPhilips completed a pediatric cardiology fellowship at Cohen Children’s Medical Center where she remained on staff for five years.
Dr. McPhillips specializes in the management of congenital and acquired heart disease with expertise in non-invasive imaging including transthoracic, transesophageal and fetal echocardiography. During her time at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, she was named the medical director of the Cardiac Neurodevelopment Program, a program which she founded, and served on multiple committees for the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Outcome Collaborative. Dr. McPhillips also played an active role in medical education as a former associate pediatric cardiology fellowship director and director of the medical student/resident cardiology curriculum. Since joining the pediatric cardiology team at Goryeb Children’s Hospital where she has taken on many vital projects, including the expansion of the exercise stress lab and joining the Atlantic Medical Group Lipid Workgroup.
Hannah Aura Shoval, MD
Hannah (Aura) Shoval, MD, is a specialist in pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation at Goryeb Children’s Hospital. Fellowship-trained in pediatric rehabilitation and triple board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, pediatric rehabilitation medicine and brain injury medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, she specializes in the care and management of children with conditions that impact their neurologic, muscular and/or skeletal systems. With more than 10 years of experience caring for young patients, Dr. Shoval’s expertise lies in delivering high-quality and personalized care to improve the function and quality of life for children.
Working closely with families, she treats children with cerebral palsy, brain or spinal cord injury, muscular dystrophy and genetic conditions; helping them to stand, walk, use their arms and hands, develop language skills, as well as improve chewing and swallowing. She is dedicated to advancing her field and participates in ongoing clinical research to discover novel treatments, such as innovative robotic technologies, biofeedback techniques, therapies and injection techniques to help children. She has published in journals, written textbook chapters, and has lectured nationally and internationally. Dr. Shoval has a special interest in incorporating adaptive sports, dance and the performing arts in medical practice and is certified in performing arts medicine by the American College of Sports Medicine and the Performing Arts Medicine Association.
