NEED

As our community grows, so do the needs of our youngest patients. At Goryeb Children's Hospital, we provide expert care along with access to the latest medical treatments and state-of-the-art technology. Because of our successes, we've outgrown our space. This affects our ability to ensure the best patient-centered care. When families and children are at their most vulnerable, we want to be here for them. That is why expansion is so critical right now. And, although the construction for some phases is complete, the fundraising continues for all projects.

The ever-increasing community demand for our expert pediatric care has us bursting at the seams.

Goryeb operates close to or at 100 percent capacity during peak seasons, and our facility needs to be expanded and designed to be responsive to advances in medicine. Industry analysts predict a shift: Children’s hospitals of the future will function as one large pediatric intensive care unit to treat the highest acuity patients, while outpatient efforts will keep the general pediatric population healthy and out of the hospital.

PHASE 1

Specialty outpatient services, previously located in the second floor of Goryeb, have moved across the street to 55 Madison Avenue. This has afforded patients an updated, expanded unit and access to free parking.

TOMORROW'S CHALLENGE
PHASE 2

Our Joan and Edward Foley Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) increased from nine to 15 beds. Additionally, Ryan Pediatric Inpatient South Unit added eight private rooms. These rooms, combined with the 26-bed Vanech Family Pediatric Inpatient Unit, brings the inpatient unit (non-critical care) to 34 beds.

PHASE 3

Goryeb Children’s Hospital Valerie Fund Children's Center has seen a 28 percent increase in patient volume. Relocating the Center to the third floor of Goryeb will ensure that all hematology (blood disorder) and pediatric oncology patients will receive the critical care they need.
