$100,000-Renovation to Children’s Hospital Garden to Begin This Spring

mickey-s-garden.jpgNearly ten years after Mickey’s Garden was dedicated by Kids4Kids – the Foundation for Morristown Medical Center's youth philanthropy committee for Goryeb Children's Hospital – the garden will expand to meet the needs of today’s patients. The $100,000 renovation, which will begin this spring, is funded entirely by donations and includes widening the walkways with a durable playground surface to accommodate wheelchairs; sunshades to protect against too much glare; and electrical outlets placed on outside walls for IV pole hook-ups. These enhancements will allow patients the freedom to stay outside for longer periods.
The following donors contributed to the project:

  • Kids4Kids raised $43,000 from their annual Family Fun Day and Juniors for Goryeb fundraising events.

  • The Employee Basket Raffle at Morristown Medical Center raised $52,000.

  • Elite Toma Martial Arts, located in Randolph Township, raised $18,000 from their annual Break-A-Thon for Charity.

Mickey’s Garden, dedicated in honor of Michelina Tedeschi, the grandmother of Kids4Kids former Committee Member Emily Weber, is an outside play and relaxation space, located between Goryeb Children’s Hospital and the Farris Family CAMP building, that provides space for families to picnic and bring their pets to visit, enhancing their over family-centered care experience at Goryeb Children’s Hospital.  For more information about Goryeb Children’s Hospital and how to help contact Gerri Kling at gerri.kling@atlantichealth.org.
